This was Week 4 of Experience God! This time we looked at the Sacraments. This may have not been a usually topic for us, but we talked about how traditionally this has been a way to experience God. Here’s the notes from the message!
Defining the Term

Sacrament “a visible sign of an invisible reality” OR “an outward and visible sign of an inward and invisible grace.”
The Big Two
Baptism
The Act
The Picture
Cleansing (from sin)
Burial and Resurrection
“Christ died for our sins … He was buried … and He rose again.” 1 Cor. 15: 3-4
New Life
“By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead… so also we may live a NEW LIFE.” Rom. 6: 4
The Reason
Identification
“Jesus said, Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit…” Matt. 28:19-20
Example
“. . . Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river.” Mark 1: 9
Communion
The Act
23For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
The Picture – Death and Redemption
The Reason – Remembrance
We ended the night with a time of communion and remembering what God has done for us.

This past Sunday night we talked about another way to experience God. Worship is about more that singing a songs and we need to have a true understanding of what worship is… so here is the outline from the Sunday night!
Defined (How the Bible Defines it)
Submission – Bowing down
Service
Reverence
Direction (what you worship)
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:5
Desire (The heart of worship)
But Samuel replied:
“Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD ?
To obey is better than sacrifice,
and to heed is better than the fat of rams. 1 Sam 15:22
